At 37 years old the term “pre-history” felt weird hearing. Most of my life the idea or concept of “history” made sense to me. It was a class I had in high school. It was a channel on TV my grandpa enjoyed watching. There were history “buffs,” and, it was a period of time I simply had a box for in my mind where everything from dinosaurs to 2020 lived.
The more I thought about it the more I realized that written history is much different than imagined or theoretical history. For example, we can be confident at one point in time on this planet there was a great flood because there are at minimum 37 different stories of a flood from different groups of people across the planet, all mimicking in some form a very commonly known story of a great flood from the Bible. Let’s consider this “written history.”
Now let’s look at the dinosaurs. We don’t have any current writings that are public knowledge or to my knowledge where people have written about living alongside the dinosaurs, so when we dig up bones and skeletons and generate theories as to how they lived in terms of habits and environment we are imagining or theorizing the history of the dinosaurs. And it also seems like these theories or imagined components of history are regularly updated as we revisit old findings and encounter new data from new discoveries.
We also have an idea about cavemen or cave people. They wore cheetah loin cloths and clubbed each other over the head and were not very “advanced” in our mind. These are the people we evolved from some would say. Others might go the Adam and Eve route and ignore evolution altogether, and that’s fine too because all of this part of history is up for debate although some would disagree with that.
The idea of pre-history from what I gather is really about history prior to anything we have written or anything that we have written that has a very clear understanding of what was meant and is verified without any sort of ambiguity. For example, the building of the pyramids of Egypt might be considered pre-history. We have a lot of remnants and remains we are studying, but it seems like new evidence is constantly emerging such as the Sphinx having water damage dating back 10,000 plus years, or the perfect geometry of some of the construction aligning with equinoxical precessions and star alignments that would date some of the work or civilizations that participated in the work to be much older than what our classroom history books currently acknowledge.
I really say all of this because we are at a place in the world right now where it’s important to allow new ideas to emerge, especially when it comes to the history of humans. Elon musk gets targeted regularly for his desire to make humans an interplanetary species, that we could use the resources here, but what if it’s true that every so often a cataclysmic event interrupts human development and what if interplanetary travel and colonization is the answer to extending the life and generations of humans into the future?
Here’s an idea…what if in pre-history there was an advanced group of people just like you and me that were wiped out by something like a meteor, a giant earthquake that moved the continents and caused rapid climate change for land masses that moved north or south, or some other event pushed humans to the brink of destruction? I think this would be important to know because knowing and understanding this can be the salvation of humans as we would be equipped with the knowledge to begin working on solutions, making human existence reach far into eternity instead of ending up just a blip on the cosmic calendar because our egos fought off anything that would alter a current belief system.
What if…?
hey so I hope you liked my first writing here on Substack. I didn’t edit it and i didn’t even read back over it, as sometimes I am short on time but simply desire to write and Publish something before I have to work or go to sleep or any number of things and I really truly absolutely love writing so if you enjoyed this topic please let me know and I’ll write more like it and if you didn’t like it let me know that too so I can learn and keep writing greater and greater pirces for the entertainment and infotaintment of like minded folks. Thank you!
